too.The Senior Manager, Business Development & Marketing is a
highly visible, hands-on, results-oriented position and will
provide strategic guidance and support attorneys in 4 of the firm's
offices in the Midwest Region, spanning Illinois, Wisconsin, and
Michigan. This individual will work closely with the Office
Managing Partners and Administrative Officers in each office on
strategy, planning, and execution of business development and
marketing initiatives. This individual will play an integral role
in the creation and execution of focused business development and
profile-raising programs that engage clients and drive revenue,
including client teams, client targeting, attorney coaching, and
office profile-raising through a Sector approach and the firm as a
whole. This position will work closely with our entire department,
including marketing, business development, communications,
research, and events teams to develop, deliver, and measure results
of campaigns and programs in the Midwest
Region.ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development and Strategy
- Work closely with, Director, Business Development & Marketing
and Office Managing Partners to develop big-picture strategies for
the regions
- Contribute significant advice, actionable insights, and
meaningful market analysis to the development and implementation of
the Midwest Regional offices' business plans
- Support attorneys in their targeted business development
efforts, including lead generation to identify prospective clients,
cross-selling to expand existing client relationships, and coaching
on related business development and marketing activities
- Serve as a liaison and primary marketing point of contact for
attorneys, connecting them to the broader initiatives in practices,
industries, and regions
- Contribute to and lead writing projects which may include
customized content for pitches and RFPs, marketing materials,
presentations, event invitations, thought leadership, and other
internal/external marketing communications
- Understand and support the pitch process, including competitive
intelligence and research, to ensure strong intra-practice and
industry group communication and client service opportunities
- Monitor and report pursuits via the firm's CRM to provide an
analysis showing the group's activity to win new business
- Serve as a client account manager for key accounts
- Conduct client feedback sessions on a regular basis. Ensure
that client feedback is documented, communicated, and acted upon by
the client teams
- Maintain the integrity of the firm's experience database;
collect attorney experience and organize it effectively; maintain
the records of marketing materials in the internal system
- Leverage marketing technology to identify leads and track and
manage opportunities and pursuits
- Utilize competitive intelligence to identify industry trends
and research pursuits; identify client targets and cross-selling
opportunities; work with attorneys to assemble collateral for
pitches, presentations, and RFPs
- Assist with the integration of lateral partners and
counselMarketing, Profile Raising and Communications
- Prepare and lead internal and client-facing presentations in a
variety of forums, including internal meetings, client
presentations, and others
- Identify media and thought leadership opportunities; promote
firm brand awareness and practice group promotion via the firm's
social media channels and other digital media outlets
- Analyze client and market intelligence to inform business
development and branding initiatives and to capitalize on
opportunities
- Oversee the creation and regular updating of marketing
collateral, with a focus on value and client benefit
- Produce and manage seminars, receptions, webinars, and other
marketing-oriented events and activities in coordination with the
events marketing team
- Evaluate sponsorships and opportunities to participate in
various directories, and manage those we engage in to ensure the
firm receives the maximum return on its investment
- Oversee drafting and submission of rankings and directories as
neededCoaching and Training
- Provide coaching, individually or in a group context, to
attorneys to help them develop new business, expand existing
relationships, and drive their market demand
- Guide attorneys on how to effectively communicate unique value
propositions that differentiate Foley & Lardner
- Collaborate with BD & Marketing Department colleagues to
deliver relevant BD training
- Create and maintain a library of best practices to be used
systemically throughout the organizationTeam Leadership and
Management
- Manage and provide growth and development opportunities for one
direct report
- Build trusted and productive relationships with attorneys and
colleagues to develop and execute practice group plans and
initiatives
- Recommend, direct, and support traditional marketing activities
that position the practice groups and firm to win work from desired
clients
- Work collaboratively with the necessary marketing support team
to execute upon successful marketing programs
- Provide discipline and structure to advance projects and plans
to desired outcomes
- Incorporate Return on Investment (ROI) mentality in all
business development activities and expenditures; evaluate
investments and make recommendations with respect to new and
existing programs
- Effectively collaborate with all teams within the Business
Development and Marketing Department, including Communications,
Events, Client Development, RFP/Proposal, Competitive Intelligence,
Industry, Branding and Creative Services, and Marketing Systems and
Operations, to create and implement practice group marketing
projects, facilitate business development efforts, and support
client service opportunitiesQualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or
related field required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in marketing and/or
business development, including a minimum of five (5) years in
professional services
- Law firm experience preferred #LI-Hybrid
