Job Title: Registered Nurse - Surgical Room Job Specialty: Nursing - RN Medical Center Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10-hour Day Shift Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years in CVOR; surgical team experiences are highly desirable License: RN License Certifications: BLS required; CST and CSFA preferred for specific roles Must-Have: Strong CVOR background is needed across all specialties with the ability to work independently. Experience with EPIC charting system is required (not necessary for Anesthesia Tech). Job Description: - Work in a Level III Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center. - Participate in cardio and thoracic surgeries including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic surgeries, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and Fem-Pop bypass. - Each surgical team will have two RNs per case: Circulator and Med RN; travelers will only circulate. - Maintain patient ratios of 1:1. - Operate machines for blood gases, TEE, and ultrasounds for Anesthesia Tech roles. - Support available on the unit includes department supervisor, manager, team lead, 24/7 anesthesia availability, surgical assistant lead, and house supervisor. - Utilize EPIC for charting, along with equipment like Alaris and Pyxis, and Da Vinci XI. - Floating not required, except for Anesthesia Techs who may float between CVOR, Main OR, and Cath Lab. - Two weeks of orientation provided, with a weekend on-call rotation and adherence to a fatigue policy limiting work to 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts. - Scrub color provided by the facility. - Must document pain levels before and after administering pain medication, ensuring alignment with medication orders.
